Baby Shower Gift- Owl

We just had a baby shower at work for a co-worker who is having a boy. I made a sweet little stuffed owl and she sent me a photo of where she put it in the baby's room so I thought I'd share it.

The owl is yellow and white chevron with a huge white with black polka-dots heart on it's tummy and a small one on it's lower back.

The owl was really easy to make and took around 15 minutes or so.

DIY Desk Pad

Well Pinterest has come through yet again. I found a great little cheap project, decorating a desk pad, to give my desk a little extra cuteness.

It's super simple and easy to make! Here's what you need:

Spray Adhesive
IKEA or any other clear Desk Pad (it's about $6)
Any wrapping paper you'd like to do.

What ya do:

1. Precut an over sized piece of wrapping paper (so it will hang over the desk pad.
2. Spray the adhesive on side of the clear desk pad that will rest on your desk.
3. Carefully lay the wrapping paper onto the desk pad. *I lined up one side of my wrapping paper to the bottom of the desk pad.
4. Smooth out the wrapping paper.
5. Cut off the the excess wrapping paper and BAM, you are done!

*Be careful where you spray, I did it outside on the porch, then hosed the patio where the glue got on the concrete.

Here's the finished product:

Crafty Cuteness- Easter

I wanted to do something for my little cousins for Easter since I am so far away from them. I, as always decided to go to Pinterest to find something cute I could make. I found this great pattern for these cute as can be bunny bags. Here's the link if you want to check it out! Bunny Bags.

Here are how mine turned out!

I am on Spring Break this week and I wanted to have a little Spring/Easter goodie for them when we go back on Monday. So I went to Target and looked around the dollar section and found these goodies. Cute little bunny bags, note books and pens (2 for $1). I'm going to sneak into the teacher's room on Monday morning and stick these little cuties in their boxes.

Crafty Christmas Gifts

Ok so for Christmas for all of my cousins Big and small I made them each an apron.

The adult aprons are made out of a dish towel and some ribbon. The kids half aprons are made out of a fabric placemat. I also made the littles some snowmen beanies.

Here are the photos I promised.

If only I had a better model... here's what they look like on.

Fab Fall Weekend

This weekend here in Texas has been AMAZING! The weather has been in the 50's and 60's, it's been overcast and WONDERFUL! Reminds me of living on the Central Coast of California (which I miss... A LOT).

With the crisp cool air and it being the first time pulled out a sweatshirt and pants, I got that warm fuzzy fall feeling, and decided I wanted to decorate the outside of my house for Halloween. Being all of my halloween decorations are in storage and the storage is about an hour and a half away, I decided to head to Target, and bought everything I needed to decorate my front porch for under $12!

I bought a shower curtain (the cheapo plastic kind) and used black duck tape to create a spider web mat for our front porch. It's super easy to do.

Start in the center and work your way to the outer corners (it's easier).

1.

2.

3.

4.

Then I got some of that spiderweb in a bag and decorated the door, window and pillars infront of our place, and bought 3 spiders ($1 each).

The dogs came out to check out all of the festiveness that was going on out front.... trying to get them to sit for a photo is almost as hard as getting a youngin to sit still and pose! HA!

Sammy and Pudge love the Spider Mat:

FOCUS SAMMY, look at the camera!

Sammy was a cake walk compared to Pudge. Focus boy, focus. HA!

I didn't want to buy anything to decorate the inside due to the fact that I do have some fun things packed away so I just picked up these little owl candles holders and towels from the dollar section at Target.

Photo Board

Ok so here it is, I made a photo board. I found the idea on Pinterest and thought... I could do that. So I made 2 boards. One for my family room and one for our bedroom.

Sorry for the crumby photo quality, I was snapping away on my camera phone.

The Beach Themed Board for our bedroom

The Miss California Board

~Here's the "how-to"~

You will need:

Foam Core Board (whatever color you want)
double sided tape, or photo slips
Mod Podge (I chose Mat so there was no glare on the board)
Foam brushes
Command Strips to hang with

Blury but, grab your form Core Board and some photos you like, and trim your photos to 4X4.

Layout your photos across the board where you want, and then go back and measure them to make sure they are all even.

Use your finger to hold each photo down and with your other hand lift up the sides and stick your photo splits or double sided tape under the picture. **Make sure you put tape on either both sides or top and bottom so that when you do the next step your photos won't move). Be so proud of this blury pick. I stacked 2 books and my glass owl pot, put my phone on top of it, and snapped this picture with my nose. LOL

Paint the entire board. Don't be afraid to glob it on (the stuff dries clear) because you want the Mod Modge to not only cover the board and the photo, but get under the corners of the photo too.

Next paint the sides and edges. This will help just incase something bumps into your board the paper top of the board will won't chip/rip as easy.

*Let your board dry completely.

If your photos bubble a bit, just go back over it with some Mod Podge and press a bit firmer as you paint over your touch ups. To avoid this MAKE SURE YOU SECURE YOUR PHOTOS BEFORE MOD PODGING. I had a 3 photos that weren't as secure as they needed to be on my first board (my second I had no issues).

Add your command strips to the back (Follow the directions on the package) and hang.

Here is our beach themed one hung. I need to add something else to the wall here to go with it. Any ideas, please let me know.

The black one isn't hung yet. I would like your advice... which wall should I hang it on?

Wall with the TV
Wall next to the TV
Wall next to the couch wall

Thanks for your advice and thanks for checking this fun and easy Photo Board Project out!
